Dinner for One: $2.68

Late Saturday we finally put together a card game so I rushed out the door around 6:30 to break a $100 and buy a few snacks and my dinner. Being a food/deal specialists I wavered on what I was thinking about eating. Eat too heavy and that would blow snacking during cards. Spend too much $$$ and approach playing cards would be too tight. At first I thought chinese sesame chicken with an order of crab rangoon, cost @ $8. Then I thought an order of white meat chicken from Golden Chick but figured that would be greasy and cost almost $8 to get what I wanted. I ended up at Jack N the Box and ordered 2 tacos for 99 cents and an order of onion rings. Total cost $2.68 and it was filling, fried yet not heavy on the grease. I feel better spending this little compared to the near $12 I spent the other night.

Drive thru DON'TS
5. If you have to turn your car off to order.....GO INSIDE!
4. If your order is over $20......GO INSIDE!
3. If you have to open your door to place a drive thru order....GO INSIDE!
2. If everyone in the car has to shout their own order.....GO INSIDE!
1. If you have to ask questions about the menu.....GO INSIDE!

At the expense of everyone else waiting these circumstances were created by ONE vehicle at the drive thru. Luckily I was not in a hurry!

Excellent drive thru advice. You should make signs and post them about town.

Reply to Pigs: Maybe I could become a fastfood consultant? Found another deal today in Allen at Tailgaters. Kids meal: 5 wings, fries and drink for $2.99. The waitress encouraged it when I said I wanted wings and fries, but wasn't hungry enough to order both. Saved $6. YES!

Restaurants please have someone who speaks English as a primary language manning the mic. Remember the days when I couldn't wait for the 99 cents sale (it wasn't always a given in STL in the '80). My order: 6 tacos, onion rings and a diet coke. If I did that today, you would have to take me to the hospital.

Reply to txgrl: I usually cut my cost by having canned diet Pepsi around. Ask for the FREE cup of ice, 2 tacos, 1 onion ring and it's $2.68 for dinner.

I've driven from St. Louis to Chicago with friends one day to eat at Ed Debevics. Then we drove back home that afternoon in order to play a 7pm hockey game.

Reply to billyv: Best Jack in the Box moment was at the Rea's house.

The MAN: "Hey, I don't remember ordering tacos," as he takes a big bite out of Billyv's taco.

BillyV: "Jerk" as he grabbed a handful of The MAN's food.
