Missouri weather

It is nice to have a student in my class that formerly lived in Missouri. We are having a severe cold snap with freezing rain, sleet and possibly some snow. This after nearly reaching 90 degrees just 5 days ago. As everyone else is cry babying about how cold it is this student simply says, "This reminds me of Missouri." No big deal folks. So what if it is cold. The news forecaster just said the weather is heading for the basement. Funny thing is, THERE ARE NO BASEMENTS IN THIS AREA, and most people from this region do not know what a basement is anyway.

Being from Missouri I do have a heating pad that I've got cranked up and it is warming up my bed right now.

Good sleeping weather, 6 layers of blankets/quilts/comforters deep! Good night. My prediction is we will have a late start time tomorrow morning.

Temps in the teens tonight, wind chill in the single digits. I am kind of enjoying it, but I dress warmly. Snow tonight (but I bet you get more tonight, it is all around us).

Oh I miss late starts!! Unfortunately they don't do them in college. But then again, my classes are all spread out over the hours of the day rather than just in the school day block as well.

Exactly why I love the cold weather: you can have all the blankets you own on you and not feel guilty for taking them all. In the cold weather you can always bundle up. In the hot weather you can't really strip down to nothing (even though people do it).

or maybe no start at all!! kids love these days off but they just mean we lose the free day later in the year!

You'd think someone from Missouri might scrape the ice off their car with something other than a box of baby wipes...

Reply to billyV: We just got the initial rain the froze. Just overpasses and our service road was messy. Did see a few cars off in the ditch.

Other places got it worse.

Reply to kvkid: I do miss the 4-6 inches of snow that is.

Reply to wiccachicky: They do late starts here for colleges.

Reply to deanna: here in Texas you almost need to keep a sweatshirt with you during the summer because some places crank the AC.

REply to txgrl: With the late start the day after Memorial day is still safe!

Reply to txgrl:: Good time to Christmas shop when school is closed and the streets are pretty good.

I live in Missouri and I've been to Texas in the so-called "winter." Baby wipes were probably overkill.

To bev: It was a small, hard plastic box, with a sharp edge that worked. I'm a good problem solver!

We had a good snow here in Missouri. For me it was life like normal. We all bundled up and went to school. Some of the smaller districts did cancel because those rural roads can get pretty treacherous.

I am wishing for more snow, soon! A couple of inches at least!

It sounds like we have a MacGyver fan! Using a box as an ice scrapper. Nice problem solving!

Oh I see now, you used the *box* (I got me some readin' comprehension issues.) Excellent McGyvering.

Reply to BEV and Christopher: I do problem solve pretty well. We did have a parent come in asking for help getting ice off the windows. "Who's parent are you? Oh, that explains it. Your child doesn't see you problem solving."
